My time at UIDE was amazing. I took some courses in Spanish and others in English. Initially I was not sure if my Spanish would be good enough, but thanks to the small class sizes and teachers that took extra time to make sure I would be able to follow the courses, the Spanish classes turned out to be the most enriching. During my time in Ecuador, I also worked on a chocolate business idea. Upon my return to Austria I launched an artisanal chocolate business, working with Ecuadorian Cacao beans. I took advantage of the different extracurricular activities offered at UIDE and learned how to ride horses and dance salsa! I also traveled to the Galapagos Islands and Montañita during my exchange. Ecuador is an incredible country with endless wildlife and amazing landscapes. I hope to go back soon.

“Starting with my first week in Ecuador, I felt like part of a family. Everyone was really nice and helpful, and I’ve made a lot of Ecuadorian friends who I hope to see again soon. From my point of view, I chose the best university for an exchange: UIDE’s academic quality is really good, the campus is beautiful and there are a lot of sports options. I was able to travel to some incredible places in Ecuador, I never felt in danger anywhere in the country, and I never felt alone.”

“I really enjoyed Ecuadorian culture, and I learned a lot about Latin America. I had the chance to travel to amazing places, and I met some really great Ecuadorians who I will definitely see in Italy in the future. UIDE is a beautiful university, the campus is huge and everyone is very kind. My overall experience was great; I recommend it.”

“Ecuador and UIDE were a surprise for me; I found myself surrounded by really nice people in a wonderful country. The best times I had were the trips I was able to take with other exchange students and the International Student Club. My biggest challenge was improving my Spanish, and in addition to that I was able to learn about Ecuadorian culture, traditions and different worldviews.”
Daniel Amador Torra, Spain, Haagse HogeschoolExchange student 2017
“I will never forget my trip to Puerto Lopez with 15 other foreign and Ecuadorian students; we took a bus and went to Los Frailes beach and the Isla de la Plata. Doing this exchange has made me even more independent and has given me more insight. I learned a lot about Ecuadorian culture, which will help me in my professional life because I’m specializing in trade between Latin America and Europe. I’m going to miss everyone at UIDE, be they classmates or staff and everyone who was part of my exchange, changing me and my way of seeing things.”

I loved my stay in Ecuador and at the UIDE. In the beginning it was hard because not many people speak a lot of English but that only helped to improve my Spanish. The people at the UIDE are very friendly and welcoming. The relationship between professors and students is very close and with a lot of interaction during classes. The teachers support you a lot and always try to help you, and the classes they teach are very interesting because of their experiences and practical examples and projects. The time goes by so fast, and I had many wonderful experiences and made new friends. I will never forget my time here and would choose the UIDE again any time.

Studying at UIDE was a unique experience. Since my first day, I felt like I was at home. I discovered a new teaching style with a closer relationship with all the teachers. My classes allowed me to practice my Spanish in a professional context. I do not know the other universities of Ecuador but UIDE has nothing to envy the French universities, is an amazing university. There is a lot of incredible sports like paintball and BMX, it's crazy! Ecuador you are incredible and a very rich country. It was a pleasure getting to know each one of your regions. Your landscapes are wonderful, the volcanoes, the Amazon, the beaches, the colors of the markets ... your people are so hospitable and very friendly. Now, I return to France with many memories in my suitcase: of your culture, your traditions and above all with many friendships. What an incredible adventure, what a beautiful country, Ecuador I will never forget you!

The time I spent in Ecuador was incredible. The most impressive experience was that I got to meet amazing people that now I can call friends and family. I was in contact with many open hearted, lovely and caring friends, especially the CEI members. We collected many great experiences and adventures together, especially when they thought us how to celebrate the Ecuadorian way. The University is a place I always visited with pleasure, because of its friendly and peaceful atmosphere. The relationship between students as well as the relationship between professors and students was very respectful, and on top of that way more familiar than what I was used to back in my German university. Ecuador and its landscape managed to impress me over and over again. The wide diversity of landscapes are absolutely worth getting explored. Hiking in volcanic landscapes such Chimborazo, visiting the rainforest at Baños, cocktails at Montañita beach... This semester couldn’t have been filled with anymore joy, friends and adventures!

All you need is Ecuador! It is the best description of my time in this country. I had the opportunity to study abroad for a semester at UIDE, and it was an unforgettable experience. From the first day you can make friends very easily with both students and teachers. People is always loving and open to helping you in every situation. The members of the CEI (Club of International Students) organize many events to spend time together visiting and getting to know the country and its culture. And of course, they show you how you can enjoy the most while you are in this country! Ecuador has wonderful places and an impressive landscape. You can travel from the Andes to the Coast, to the Jungle or to the Galapagos Islands! All destinations offer you a great adventure that you should not miss. Also, the UIDE campus is located in the mountains and offers a spectacular view of the nearby volcanoes. You also have a wide variety of sports and educational possibilities. I can definitely recommend you to study at UIDE! Thank you Ecuador, you will always stay in my heart, for having the most loving people and the most wonderful mountains I could possibly know!

This semester has been a challenge, an adventure and a learning experience for me. Having the opportunity to study abroad really opened my eyes to different things. Universidad International De Ecuador has been very accommodating to me. Even though I barely knew any Spanish most of my teachers were willing to help me understand the subject at hand. Out of the kindness of their hearts the students also reached out to me. It’s a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere at this university not to mention the scenery is breathtaking. My host family was also very welcoming and accommodating to me. Everything was very flexible. This is the most I’ve ever traveled and I loved it. Ecuador and Colombia have a certain vibe and atmosphere that I fell in love with. Each city was unique and stood out. I will definitely have many stories to talk about when I go back to the U.S. Thank you for having me!

If you are looking for something completely different, want to meet open-minded people and you love nature, Ecuador is the place for you! I came to Ecuador hoping to improve my Spanish and to see some of this small but diverse country and it didn’t disappoint me. I’ve considerably improved my Spanish, travelled around the entire country (the Amazon, the highlands, the coast and even Galapagos) and I have made good friends. Quito is a city with a lot of potential for the future, which seems to be every day of the year in spring.
